How silence appears on paper in poetry
A small excerpt from the accompanying article:
'Here follows another 'silent' poem, also about a white world surrounded by white. It is by the poet JH Leopold (1865-1925). He wrote it around 1895:
Snow lies in the early morning
up the wall, tired and good
sheltered and a poor child comes
and stands and sees and with his foot
Are you going to write about this then?
beautiful flat and shuffles lightly
thoughtful and walks on, his mouth
trembles in the dark small face.
