In people in this age group, dementia manifests differently. It presents less as memory complaints and more as concentration problems and difficulty planning, difficulty finding the right words, or impaired vision. With frontotemporal dementia, people's character changes, and they may become unkind or uninterested.
If someone of this age visits the GP with these kinds of vague symptoms, burnout or depression is often considered rather than dementia.
